Frequently Asked Questions about AudioAndText™

Answers:
  1. Is AudioAndText™ a product or a service?
We provide the service of converting your content into the AudioAndText format.

We then host and maintain this content and deliver it to your website in a seamless transparent manner - similar to an application service provider (ASP), or a web feed aggregator.

  2. Do I have to buy any software?
No, but there is a monthly fee to cover the costs of hosting your multimedia content.

  3. Is AudioAndText™ compatible with all browsers?
Yes, it works on 98+ percent of all browsers. It uses inherent browser capabilities, no third party software (e.g.,iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real Network, etc) is required.

  4. Is AudioAndText™ compatible with my content management system?
AudioAndText™ was designed to work inside or with your existing content management system. It is also built on industry standard software using Best Practices methodologies.

  5. How is AudioAndText™ different from streaming audio or downloaded audio?
Streaming audio is audio only that plays strictly in a sequential manner. AudioAndText™ is both audio and text plus you can play audio at any point, and you have full searching ability. Downloaded audio gives you a little more navigation / playback than streaming audio, but it is rudimentary - minimal when compared to AudioAndText™.

  6. Do you create the transcript?
We create the transcript, or you supply the transcript and get a reduced price.

  7. How does AudioAndText™ work?
AudioAndText™ works by breaking your audio content up into thousands of Content Segment Units (CSU), each one marked with a PlayPoint. These PlayPoints are used to integrate and synchronize the audio, text, and Timeline together. Users can then use AudioAndText search tools to find exactly what they want, and can play the content from any PlayPoint.

  8. How do I get content to you (audio and/or transcript)?
You will be given password-protected access to a secure and private website that you use to send us content and information.

  9. How will AudioAndText™ attract more web traffic to my website?
AudioAndText™ makes your audio content visible to Google and other internet search engines, and these search engines will then drive a constant stream of new visitors to your site.

  10. Isn't my current audio content seen by internet search engines?
No, audio content (streaming audio, podcasting, and downloadable audio) is not "seen" by Google and other web search engines, and is therefore hidden from potential visitors.

The textual component of AudioAndText™ is fully searchable and indexed by Google and the other Internet search engines - thus making your audio content visible.

  11. How does AudioAndText™ make money for me?
    1. By expanding the reach and audience size for your website.
    2. By delivering unique new services and capabilities to your online audience.
    3. By making links, references and ads to all of your audio content possible.

  12. How does AudioAndText™ increase visitor time on my website?
The dual visual and audible presentation of content combined with all the new access and browse functionality result in a significantly improved user experience. All of your content is easily accessed, and there are many options allowing users to research, evaluate and see and play content.

  13. Can visitors search across all my audio files in my library with AudioAndText™ ?
Yes, AudioAndText™ lets you search all files in your library, and also do area specific searches.

  14. How does AudioAndText™ improve content utilization?
By providing your audience with content on demand, with AnyPointPlay, and search and browse features to help them locate topics of interest. This encourages your audience to use your content more and more.

Streaming audio only plays sequentially, is very time-consuming, and can be cumbersome (when trying to find a specific point or location). This results in a less satisfactory user experience and your audience will use your audio content less.

  15. How is the audio and text tied or linked together?
With PlayPoints. A PlayPoint is an audio control icon that appears about every 15 seconds of audio, and integrates and synchronizes text, audio, and the Timeline.

  16. How does AudioAndText™ make audio searchable?
The textual component of AudioAndText™ is the full transcript of the audio. All the words are indexed and thus searchable, both by AudioAndText and by web search engines.

  17. Don't other companies offer similar capabilities to AudioAndText™?
No, we are not aware of any other companies offering a competitive product. This has been confirmed as part of our Patent filing and our ongoing research of new products.

Some companies offer searchable audio by using speech recognition software to create machine generated key words, or in some cases a transcript but the accuracy rate of the transcript is poor (50-70%), and there is no integration or synchronization of text and audio.

  18. How does AudioAndText™ enable targeted content?
The textual component of AudioAndText™ is the full transcript of the audio and so all the words are present and searchable. This opens up all the benefits of textual content and services such as Google AdWords, AdSense, and other targeted advertising.

It is also worth noting that audio content can produce a large volume of quality content. For example the average one hour of audio produces about 40 pages of text. Thus a daily three hour radio talk show produces the equivalent of a small novel every day - content that is being under-utilized without AudioAndText™.

  19. How does AudioAndText™ make my audio content more accessible?
The functionality of AudioAndText™ makes searching and finding content of interest easy and fast. Our extensive searching options, combined with area searching and content classification options make this all possible.

  20. Is there much of a learning curve to use AudioAndText™?
No, it is very easy and intuitive to learn.

  21. Do you use speech recognition software to create a transcript?
No, AudioAndText™ is created by utilizing a combination of the best software available. Our content specialists ensure accuracy, high quality, and provide content enrichment such as Topics of Discussion, Table of Contents, bolded speaker names, etc.

  22. How accurate is the transcript?
Each transcript we produce is 99+% accurate.

  23. Why is AudioAndText™ a better way to learn or understand the content?
AudioAndText™ technology allows web users to listen to and read the transcript of an audio recording simultaneously, increasing their ability to understand and relate to that content. Our technology was built in response to proven practices and studies about learning and cognition modalities.

  24. Can I use AudioAndText™ on my iPod?
No, at this time the full functionality of AudioAndText™ is only available over the Web from online computers. However, from within the Visible Audio Player™ users are provided with the options of doing traditional streaming or podcasting of the audio content they are currently viewing.
