Visual Presentation of AudioAndText
AudioAndText is a new technology that integrates and synchronizes audio and text together, and delivers
it in a superior presentation format. It allows you to quickly find topics of interest by
browsing and searching, and gives you instant on-demand access to the corresponding audio. Its
unique dual sensory presentation let's you both see and hear the message, providing improved
educational value and better understanding of the content.
AudioAndText solves these limitations of Streaming Audio / Podcasting:
- Streaming Audio is very time-consuming - and limited to sequential playback
- Audio and Video are not searchable
- Converting audio into AudioAndText allows Google and other internet search engines to "see" your content which lets them direct new web traffic to your site
- A transcript alone does not give you the speaker's vocal inflections and non-verbal communications which can substantially change the meaning of the message
- Most people comprehend better by seeing text as opposed to just hearing the audio
- Skimming audio for pertinent details is difficult and slow
- Audio and video files cannot be printed
- You cannot copy and paste information from audio or use text based electronic translation tools
Below are screen displays showing AudioAndText in use in a variety of different applications.
Corporate Financial Data: View corporate Investor Relations site using AudioAndText for Earnings Conference Calls
|
The above screen display shows a corporate Investor Relations page and demonstrates how AudioAndText can be used to present
earnings conference calls and other financial data.
The above screen display shows the search results of all Earnings Call transcripts that have the term 'Enterprise Storage'.
The highlighted search results are shown in a Key Word In Context (KWIC) bulleted format so that you can better judge if the result was relevant.
Each highlighted word is a direct link into that transcript and to that exact location within the document.
The above screen display shows an individual Earnings Call transcript with the search term(s) highlighted.
The little grey speaker symbols along the right side of the transcript are called Play Points. By clicking on any one of
them, you can play the corresponding audio.
When a PlayPoint is playing audio it will change the image shape to give you a visual cue of the location. Clicking on a
PlayPoint toggles between Play and Pause. Audio will continue to play through subsequent PlayPoints until you click the
Stop/Pause button.
Talk Radio Show: Quickly find what interests you in long talk shows
|
The screen display above is from a home improvements talk radio program. It shows the Index page with show dates listed
chronologically and table of contents links for each show. People save time by going directly to what interests them and
then being able to instantly read or hear the show.
The screen display above is from a home improvements talk radio program. On the left side of the screen it shows all the
different topic categories. On the right side it lists the related topics of discussion rated and sorted by order of relevance.
In a library with hundreds of talk shows, being able to extract out related topics of discussion provides a treasure trove of useful
information to the talk show audience, and builds an easily accessible knowledgebase.
All topics of discussion are direct links to that show and location, with instant on-demand access to the text and audio.
The screen display above is from a home improvements talk radio program. It shows an individual talk show with the search
terms ("tree") highlighted.
Displayed the top of the transcript is the table of contents, available for every show.
The Play Point on the right at time location 1:16 is currently playing audio (as denoted by the changed image symbol of a Play/Pause button).
At the top right on the toolbar, the buttons "First", "Prev", "Next", and "Last", are used when search terms are
highlighted in a transcript. These buttons let you navigate from search term to search term and help save you time
because there could be many pages of text between search terms in a long show. One hour of a talk show produces about
30-40 pages of text in a transcript.

How the Visible Audio Player™ works
|
Example of Play Point:
The PlayPoint in this example is located 1 minute and 36 seconds into the show.
|
|
The Visible Audio Player™ works by using Play Points located inside the transcript area along the
right side of the screen and displayed with the timeline and grey speaker symbol.
When a Play Point section is currently playing, the grey speaker symbol changes into a Play - Pause button.
This acts as a visual cue to tell you where in the transcript the audio is playing from. The Play - Pause button
(along the right side of the text area) can be clicked with the mouse button to Play or Pause audio at any time.
This gives you direct access - on-demand playing ability at any point, and solves the problems of sequential playback
that hampers streaming audio. In addition by both seeing and hearing the content you get a better understanding of the message.
